Special Intergenerational Events

Mt. Carmel values both fun and education that can be done with all our generations of learners. Several times a year, we have a congregation-wide event – often after worship – that involves people of all ages in the celebration.

  • Mt. Carmel Game Night ~ September 18th
  • NE Weed It & Reap (a local service project) – October 9th

  • “Jesus: A Novel” ~ A Bookgroup/Bible Study
For five weeks this fall, we’ll be reading Walter Wangerin Jr.’s novel, “Jesus”. Wangerin, a masterful storyteller, tells the story of Jesus with careful adherence to the Biblical text, but from different points of view, in different voices, with additional historical details. The novel is not a difficult read. We’ll meet weekly to discuss it and the Biblical texts from which the story is taken – half bookgroup, half Bible Study! Starts Tuesday, Sept. 14th 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • Women’s Retreat ~ October 1-3
The Women of Mt. Carmel are invited to retreat to the Arc Retreat Center (http://www.arcretreat.org/) October 1-3. Our theme is the Biblical Book of Ruth, our guide will be Joan Chittester & John August Swanson’s book “The Story of Ruth: Twelve Moments in Every Woman’s Life”. Contact Pastor Melanie if you are interested.

Men of Mt. Carmel will get away to the new Benedictine Retreat Center At St. Paul's Monastery, Maplewood. Bible study on First Peter, led by Pastor Dodd. Great getaway, excellent fellowship, food, spiritual growth.
